Torrance County located in the center of the State of New Mexico, East of Albuquerque. Population approximately 15,000. The county seat is Estancia. Torrance County is included in the Albuquerque metropolitan area. Elevation from 6,000 to 6,200 feet above sea level. The largest city in the county is Moriarty.

     Torrance County is one of the most productive agricultural counties in United States. Pinto beans, corn, alfalfa, pumpkins are harvested through the year.

    Torrance County has a dry, high-desert climate with four seasons and a lot of sunshine. Torrance County average around 310 sunshine days per year.

Precipitation about 15 inches annually. Rain season is July-August with some thunderstorms and monsoons.  The most comfortable time April-May and September-October. Snowfall is moderate, average 17"- 23" annually.

     Winter temperatures 42*F- 51*F high and 22*F -30*F low. Summer 83*F- 86*F high and 56*F-62*F  low.

Due to the elevation, there is a significant difference between daytime high and nighttime low temperatures. Even hot days cool off quickly after sunset. Temperature can drop 25-35 degrees.
